Urban Blank 1
This experimental short film combines performance with over 900 sequential photographs to create a two-minute moving image work. Filmed in Seoul's Jungang Market, a once-thriving but now semi-abandoned traditional market, the piece explores the spatial and cultural voids left by imbalanced urban development.
Despite its central location, the market has been excluded from urban revitalization due to high land costs, leaving it isolated and nearly forgotten. Through the deliberate use of visual absence, the artist reflects on the historical and cultural erasure caused by rapid urbanization and commercialization. The film examines how urban development often creates psychological and spatial vacuums, where cultural memory and human presence are overlooked.
