Yin and Yang

2021

Experimental short film

This film is filmed on the site of Gyeonghuigung Palace in Seoul—a land transformed from a former Joseon royal palace into colonial-era ruins, and now, a silent ground accessible to all. This metamorphosis of space intuitively embodies the core concept of Yin-Yang in traditional East Asian thought: the principle of how opposing poles transform into one another to form a dynamic unity. The film uses this as a metaphor for the eternal cycle of history and society, where conflict and harmony, destruction and rebirth, are not two ends of a linear development. Instead, they are coherent forces coexisting within the same system, mutually causal and defined by a constant ebb and flow. Together, they compose an endless song of circulation and renewal.
